The above shouldn’t come as a surprise to you. Is there a country with a rich history as Italy? Besides, Italy has been a seat of power, influencing both political and religious activities for thousands of years. Several other factors pull millions of tourists to this country. Keep reading and learn more about this beautiful country.

The cuisines and the culture

Authentic and scrumptious Italian cooking. That’s all we have to say. Trying to describe the experience of Italian food is a waste of time. Words cannot express the years of culinary innovation and knowledge in every dish and drink. And please don’t compare with the watered-down version in your country. The food served in Italian restaurants and cafes is fresh and full of natural ingredients. Some tourists travel to Italy just for food. Once you get a taste, you are not going back.

Besides, every region of Italy has its unique culture. It’s like you are moving from one country to another. Each region has its cuisines and different festivals. If you are planning to visit, don’t go without drinking some of the wine.

Art

Italy has been described as the birthplace of art. Some of the most distinguished artists have been born and nurtured within the country. Some of them include Caravaggio, Raphael, Sandro Botticelli, Titian, and Michelangelo.

That said, the country has a wide range of paintings and statues all over the country. You must visit the Sistine Chapel and behold the beautiful works of Michelangelo on its ceiling. It is simply stunning.

Heritage sites and iconic landmarks

No country in the world has more UNESCO World Heritage sites than Italy. We know that is a fact that you didn’t know. To give you just a sample of the stunning sites that are spread throughout the country, we decided to give you a sample:

  • The canals of Venice. When you think of Italy, you must picture the gondola rides through the narrow Venice canals. This mode of travel is unique to the city and tourists simply love it!
  • The Colosseum. The size of this amphitheater makes it one of a kind. That still stands to this day is a testament of its grandeur and magnificence. It also has two levels of underground tunnels, cells, and rooms.
  • The Leaning Tower of Pisa. Your child may know of this tower from their favorite cartoon show. It is one of the biggest attractions in Italy. You will always find a tourist taking a photo, probably to go and photoshop later.
  • Cinque Terre. This coastal region overlooks the Mediterranean and offers a plethora of activities for tourists and locals alike.
  • Lake Como is surrounded by mountains and small towns and villages, making it one of the most beautiful attractions in Italy.

And the above is just the tip of the iceberg. There are many more activities that you can enjoy with a trip to Italy.

The amount of domestic tourism in Italy is simply staggering. The citizens love to travel within their country, enjoying the various destinations and attractions within their bodies. If you are in doubt, visit the country during the July-August period. Offices are served by a skeleton crew and some restaurants and service industries are closed. Families and individuals are taking time off, to breathe in and enjoy the beauty of Mother Nature.

When looking into various destinations in Italy, we conducted a survey and one thing repeatedly came up – castles. That’s how we decided to take a closer look into this. Put aside the rolling hills, beautiful villages, and exquisite foods. Italy has such diversity when it comes to castles. All offer something unique, different and they are spread all over the country. Let’s take a closer look. On your next vacation to Europe, you will consider making a stop to one or more of these options.

Scaligero Castle

This particular castle dates back as far as the 13th Century and is located on the shores of Lake Garda. Its beauty has been the inspiration to many painters from time immemorial. We recommend taking a tour of the Castle. You can immerse yourself in the imperial feeling that the castle exudes. The castle is also located on high ground. From the cobbled turrets and parapet walls, you can be able to get a stunning panoramic view of the lake as well as of the town of Sirmione.

Castle dell ’Ovo

There is an absurd story surrounding the foundation of the Castle dell ’Ovo. Legend has it that the castle foundation stands on magic. It has to be quite the sturdy egg considering that the Castle dell ’Ovo has been an iconic landmark in Naples since the 12th Century. The Castle was built by the Normans and still bears their unique signature. The best time to visit is almost during sunset. The orange hue from the sun magically transforms the castle.

The Ferrara Castle

The castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and serves as a symbol of the city of Ferrara. It was built in the 14th century. One of the unique features of the castle is its guided tours. The castle offers an animated tour where you will get to learn of the history of the castle together with the secret tunnels hidden within the think walls. The professional actors do such a good job you will think you were part of the Estensi family, the original residents of the castle.

Sant’Angelo Castle

The Sant’Angelo Castle is a must-visit on your next Italian vacation. It is one of the oldest in the country, boasting of being constructed at around 123 A.D. The castle was originally built as a tomb and had ties to the powerful Roman families of old. As a seat of power, the popes are also intertwined in its history. There are almost 2000 years of history embedded in this beautiful building. Few buildings in the world are as old and as beautiful as the Sant’Angelo Castle.

Located in the South of Italy, there is a small region that comes highly recommended. It may be overlooked due to its small size and other highly rated regions and towns in Italy and the greater part of Europe. But that’s simply because of a lack of information. This article is here to change all that. After reading this, you will be bound to have a change of heart.

Europe is known for its beautiful beaches. The Falconara Albanese has some that we suggest you visit. The Lido Termare and the Lido di Tropea are our top two recommendations. The tranquil waters are translucent and green lapping onto clean and sparkling beaches. You can come with your child here and enjoy the shallow and calm waters. The beaches are typically not crowded and you can have a piece of the Ocean to yourself. The beaches are also lined with restaurants where you can enjoy freshly caught seafood cooked with a local touch.

Italy has a long and quite rich history when it comes to religion, especially Catholicism. While there may be other different religions in the country, the main religion of the citizens is Roman Catholic. In most sectors of their lives, you will see an influence of the church. This comes in handy for those looking to visit the Falconara Albanese area. There are two churches/cathedrals that we will recommend to you: the Chiesa dell’Asunta and Chiesa Della Madonna Del Buon Consiglio. The architecture of the churches will have you in awe. A visit to the churches will give you an appreciation of the architects and their subtle additions, from the stained windows to the vaulted ceilings to stunning and beautiful mosaics.

They say save the best for the last. Our last suggestion to you is the Court of Paola. Being a seaside town, you might get yourself drawn to its wide beaches. Don’t yourself be distracted; okay, maybe only for a little while. The main attraction in the Court of Paolo is the St. Francis Sanctuary. The town of Paola is known for being the birthplace of St. Francis. He was born in 1416 to a rural family. You will get to see some attractions that are dedicated to the man. The Sanctuary is built with a mix of Baroque and Renaissance influence. Enthusiasts and fans can take shots identifying the two styles. The Sanctuary is also uniquely located in the Isco Gorge, surrounding the Sanctuary with a special feel.

There are many accommodation options for you. Of course, the best is the one that offers you a beautiful panoramic view of the Court of Paola.

You should consider including Falconara Albanese in your itinerary. Whether you are planning to backpack through Europe or intentionally visit the region, we guarantee that you will not be disappointed. Make sure to visit one or all of the above destinations.
